كرّمت إدارة نادي الخليج لاعبها البرتغالي ريبوتشو، قبل مواجهة الهلال، بمناسبة وصوله إلى 100 مباراة بقميص الفريق، وتم منحه قميصاً يحمل الرقم «100» تقديراً لمسيرته مع النادي.

وجاء التكريم قبيل انطلاق المباراة، في لفتة احتفالية من الإدارة، قبل أن يتحول لاحقاً إلى حديث جماهيري عقب نهاية اللقاء.

وأبدت جماهير الخليج استياءها بعد الخسارة، مركزة على الخطأ الذي ارتكبه اللاعب بتمرير الكرة بشكل خاطئ إلى لاعب الهلال، الذي استغلها وسجل هدف الفوز.

واعتبرت الجماهير أن ما حدث كان نقطة تحول في المباراة، مشيرة إلى أن الخطأ كلف الفريق نتيجة اللقاء والخسارة في لحظة حاسمة.
