يستعد النظام الصحي في المملكة المتحدة لإطلاق علاج جديد يُعد نقلة نوعية في مكافحة السرطان، يتمثل في حقنة سريعة المفعول قادرة على علاج أكثر من 14 نوعاً من الأورام خلال نحو دقيقة واحدة فقط.

وبحسب صحيفة ديلي ميل، يعتمد العلاج على نسخة قابلة للحقن من دواء Pembrolizumab، وهو أحد أدوية العلاج المناعي التي تعزز قدرة الجهاز المناعي على التعرف على الخلايا السرطانية ومهاجمتها.

ووفقاً للخطة الجديدة، سيحل هذا العلاج محل الحقن الوريدي التقليدي الذي قد يستغرق ما يصل إلى ساعتين في الجلسة الواحدة، إذ يمكن إعطاء الجرعة الجديدة في غضون دقيقة واحدة كل ثلاثة أسابيع، أو خلال دقيقتين كل ستة أسابيع، بحسب نوع السرطان.

ويُتوقع أن يستفيد نحو 14 ألف مريض سنوياً في إنجلترا من هذا التطور، خصوصاً المصابين بسرطانات مثل الرئة والثدي والعنق والرأس وعنق الرحم، مما يقلل بشكل كبير من الوقت الذي يقضونه داخل المستشفيات.

ويعمل الدواء من خلال تثبيط بروتين يُعرف باسم PD-1 protein، الذي يُبطئ استجابة الجهاز المناعي، ما يسمح بتنشيط الخلايا المناعية لمهاجمة الأورام بشكل أكثر فعالية.

وأكد مسؤولون صحيون أن هذا الابتكار لن يخفف فقط العبء عن المرضى، بل سيساهم أيضاً في زيادة كفاءة النظام الصحي عبر تقليل الضغط على المرافق الطبية وإتاحة الفرصة لعلاج عدد أكبر من المرضى.

ورغم الفوائد الكبيرة، حذّر الأطباء من بعض الآثار الجانبية المحتملة، نتيجة تأثير العلاج على الجهاز المناعي، مثل ضيق التنفس، واضطرابات الغدة الدرقية، وتراكم السوائل.

وفي حالات نادرة، قد تحدث التهابات في القلب أو البنكرياس أو حتى الدماغ، إلا أن هذه المضاعفات تبقى غير شائعة.

ويأتي هذا التطور في وقت يواجه النظام الصحي البريطاني تحديات كبيرة، مع تأخر آلاف المرضى في بدء العلاج، وهو ما قد يؤثر سلباً على فرص النجاة.

وتشير الدراسات إلى أن تأخير العلاج لمدة أربعة أسابيع قد يقلل فرص البقاء على قيد الحياة بنحو 10%.

وترى جهات صحية أن إدخال مثل هذه الابتكارات يُعد خطوة مهمة نحو تسريع العلاج وتحسين جودة حياة المرضى، عبر تقليل الوقت الذي يقضونه في المستشفيات ومنحهم فرصة أكبر لممارسة حياتهم اليومية بشكل طبيعي.

This development comes at a time when the British healthcare system is facing significant challenges, with thousands of patients experiencing delays in starting treatment, which could negatively affect survival chances.

Studies indicate that delaying treatment for four weeks may reduce survival chances by about 10%.

Health authorities believe that introducing such innovations is an important step towards accelerating treatment and improving the quality of life for patients by reducing the time they spend in hospitals and giving them a greater opportunity to lead their daily lives normally.
