3.9 billion EGP contributed by banks to support priority service projects throughout the year.

Focus on sectors such as health, social care, slum development, women and people with disabilities empowerment, and education to enhance the country’s vision of sustainable development.

The Central Bank of Egypt announced that the total contributions of the banking sector to community projects during 2024 amounted to approximately 3.9 billion EGP. These contributions were directed to sectors such as health, social care, developmental projects, slum development, women and people with disabilities empowerment, education, and many other priority service sectors aimed at uplifting the community.

This comes in recognition of the Central Bank’s pivotal role in supporting the most vulnerable groups and reinforcing its leadership in enhancing the banking sector’s contributions to corporate social responsibility projects. The health sector received the largest share of these contributions, amounting to around 2.5 billion EGP, while the social care sector accounted for approximately 447 million EGP. Additionally, about 178 million EGP were allocated for developmental projects and slum development, 149 million EGP for women empowerment, and around 136 million EGP for projects supporting people with disabilities. Education projects received 110 million EGP.

Continuing its role in achieving community development, banks allocated approximately 100 million EGP to support entrepreneurship and small and medium-sized enterprises. The sports, arts, and culture sector received 22 million EGP, and 18 million EGP were allocated to national initiatives. Additionally, banks contributed to sponsoring the Health and Population Conference, and about 153 million EGP were directed to various projects in other service sectors.

The Central Bank of Egypt affirms that the banking sector will continue its efforts to support the most deserving groups and uplift the community, in line with its commitment to complementing the government’s efforts to achieve sustainable development and improve the living standards of citizens across all governorates.
