أعلن مشروع مسام السعودي لنزع الألغام في اليمن اليوم (الأحد) نزع 4862 لغماً وذخيرة غير منفجرة وعبوة ناسفة منذ بداية الشهر الجاري يناير وحتى الـ23 منه، منها 2108 ألغام وذخائر غير منفجرة وعبوات ناسفة الأسبوع الماضي.

وأوضحت غرفة عمليات «مسام» أنه في إطار جهودها المتواصلة لتطهير الأراضي اليمنية من مخلفات الحروب فإن ما تم نزعه منذ بداية يناير الجاري شمل «4515 ذخيرة غير منفجرة، و299 لغماً مضاداً للدبابات، و40 لغماً مضاداً للأفراد، إضافة إلى 8 عبوات ناسفة»، في عدد من المناطق المتأثرة بالألغام.

نزع 2108 ألغام في أسبوع

وذكرت الغرفة أن فرق المشروع تمكنت خلال الأسبوع الماضي من نزع 2000 ذخيرة غير منفجرة، و75 لغماً مضاداً للدبابات، و31 لغماً مضاداً للأفراد، إلى جانب عبوتين ناسفتين، موضحة أن فرق مسام استطاعت منذ بداية يناير الجاري تطهير مساحة تُقدّر بنحو 1,433,412 متراً مربعاً من الأراضي الملوثة بالألغام والذخائر غير المنفجرة، بما يسهم في تقليل المخاطر على المدنيين ودعم عودة الحياة الطبيعية.

وأشارت الغرفة إلى أن المشروع نزع منذ بدء عملها في مديرية ميدي بمحافظة حجة أقصى شمال غرب اليمن ما مجموعه 6788 لغماً وذخيرة غير منفجرة وعبوة ناسفة، مؤكدة استمرار عمليات التطهير وفق خطط ميدانية تهدف إلى تعزيز الأمن المجتمعي وحماية الأرواح.

في الوقت ذاته، أكد مدير عام مشروع مسام لنزع الألغام في اليمن أسامة بن يوسف القصيبي أن فرق المشروع نزعت منذ انطلاقه في نهاية يونيو 2018 وحتى يوم 23 يناير الجاري ما مجموعه 534,813 لغماً وذخيرة غير منفجرة وعبوة ناسفة، مبيناً أن تلك الحصيلة موزعة على النحو التالي: 370,377 ذخيرة غير منفجرة و8354 عبوة ناسفة، و150,040 لغماً مضاداً للدبابات و7042 لغماً مضاداً للأفراد، في مختلف المناطق المتأثرة بالألغام.

تفكيك مخلفات الحرب

ولفت القصيبي إلى أن فرق «مسام» تمكنت منذ بداية انطلاقة المشروع وحتى 23 يناير الجاري من تطهير مساحة تبلغ نحو 76,921,168 متراً مربعاً من الأراضي اليمنية، بما يسهم في حماية المدنيين وتقليل المخاطر الناتجة عن مخلفات الحروب، موضحاً أن هذه الجهود تأتي ضمن المساعي المستمرة لمشروع مسام لتعزيز الأمن المجتمعي، وتهيئة الظروف المناسبة لعودة الحياة الطبيعية، ودعم مسارات السلام والتنمية في اليمن.

يذكر أن عمل مشروع مسام لا يقتصر على نزع وتفكيك الألغام بل أيضاً يعمل على إتلافها وتنفيذ برامج توعية تستهدف الأطفال والنساء والمسنين في المدارس والتجمعات السكنية المعرضة لخطر الألغام، إضافة إلى المناطق القريبة من خطوط التماس.

The Saudi Project Masam for Mine Clearance in Yemen announced today (Sunday) the removal of 4,862 mines, unexploded ordnance, and explosive devices since the beginning of this month, January, until the 23rd of it, including 2,108 mines and unexploded ordnance and explosive devices last week.

The Operations Room of "Masam" clarified that as part of its ongoing efforts to clear Yemeni lands from the remnants of wars, what has been removed since the beginning of January includes "4,515 unexploded ordnance, 299 anti-tank mines, 40 anti-personnel mines, in addition to 8 explosive devices," in several areas affected by mines.

2,108 Mines Removed in a Week

The room mentioned that the project teams managed during the past week to remove 2,000 unexploded ordnance, 75 anti-tank mines, 31 anti-personnel mines, along with two explosive devices, noting that the Masam teams have been able since the beginning of January to clear an area estimated at about 1,433,412 square meters of land contaminated with mines and unexploded ordnance, which contributes to reducing risks to civilians and supporting the return to normal life.

The room pointed out that the project has removed a total of 6,788 mines, unexploded ordnance, and explosive devices since it began operations in the Midi District of Hajjah Governorate in the far northwest of Yemen, confirming the continuation of clearance operations according to field plans aimed at enhancing community security and protecting lives.

At the same time, the General Director of the Masam Project for Mine Clearance in Yemen, Osama bin Youssef Al-Qusaibi, confirmed that the project teams have removed a total of 534,813 mines, unexploded ordnance, and explosive devices since its launch at the end of June 2018 until January 23 of this year, indicating that this total is distributed as follows: 370,377 unexploded ordnance, 8,354 explosive devices, 150,040 anti-tank mines, and 7,042 anti-personnel mines, in various areas affected by mines.

Disarming War Remnants

Al-Qusaibi pointed out that the "Masam" teams have managed since the project's inception until January 23 to clear an area of about 76,921,168 square meters of Yemeni land, which contributes to protecting civilians and reducing the risks resulting from the remnants of wars, explaining that these efforts are part of the ongoing endeavors of the Masam Project to enhance community security, create suitable conditions for the return to normal life, and support paths of peace and development in Yemen.

It is worth noting that the work of the Masam Project is not limited to removing and disarming mines but also includes destroying them and implementing awareness programs targeting children, women, and the elderly in schools and residential areas exposed to the risk of mines, in addition to areas close to the front lines.
