Gold prices in Egypt have experienced significant gains since the beginning of 2025, with the price of 21-karat gold increasing by EGP 1,045, marking a 28% rise. The year opened with 21K gold trading at EGP 3,740 per gram and closed last week at EGP 4,785.

On the global stage, the price of gold per ounce rose by $703, or 27%, since the start of the year. It began the year at $2,624 and closed the previous week at $3,327.

According to market data from an online trading platform for gold and jewelry, gold prices in Egypt rose by 2.6% over the past week, while the global gold ounce price saw a 2.7% weekly increase. These movements were influenced by a weakening U.S. dollar and growing geopolitical tensions and trade-related uncertainties.

During last week’s trading sessions, 21K gold in Egypt started at EGP 4,665, reached a historic high of EGP 4,800, and closed at EGP 4,785. Similarly, the global gold ounce opened the week at $3,238, peaked at a record $3,358, and ended at $3,327.

By the end of the week, 24K gold was priced at EGP 5,469 per gram, 18K gold at EGP 4,101, and 14K gold at EGP 3,190. The price of a gold pound reached EGP 38,280.
